Homeschooling in high school can feel intimidating, but Threads is committed to helping parents and students succeed through the high school years.

Our College Prep program equips students with the knowledge, skills, and habits necessary to excel in college and beyond.

 

Students gain independence in managing their education while receiving guidance from competent teachers and a Christ-centered learning environment. Students register and pay per subject.

Sample College Prep Grade (HS) Schedule

Biology

8:30 AM – 10:00 AM

This engaging class covers living organisms from a young-earth creationist perspective, including biochemistry, microbiology, cell structure and function, genetics, taxonomy, kingdoms of life, and ecology. Includes in-class labs, microscopy, and dissections.

Financial Literacy

10:00 AM – 11:00 AM

This popular course equips high school students with the real-world math skills they need for budgeting, managing money, understanding credit, and making wise financial decisions. Rooted in biblical stewardship, this course helps teens apply math to everyday life with confidence. It’s a practical, values-based approach to preparing students for financial independence and responsibility.

Emerging Artists: Advanced Art Technique

This Emerging Artists class is an art course designed for teens who are interested in refining techniques and exploring new methods of creating art. Although this class assumes prior art experience, all students will receive instruction on basic drawing technique, color theory, and perspective-on laboratory experiments exploring the laws of physics and chemistry through group observation and faculty-led inquiry.

IEW Composition

11:00 PM – 12:00 PM

This is a two-year writing sequence that uses the Institute for Excellence in Writing’s Structure and Style® method to strengthen students’ composition skills through structured, incremental instruction. Each year provides a full course of guided lessons covering the nine IEW Units along with advanced stylistic techniques. Students will develop strong structure, refined style, expanded vocabulary, and confident written expression dedicated time for students to build strong family-like relationships through shared meals and recreational activities.

World Religions

This course prepares students to thoughtfully study, analyze, and discuss world religions in both peer and university settings. Students will examine major world religions in historical order of their founding, gaining a clear understanding of their origins, core beliefs, and practices. Throughout the course, a Christian perspective will be interwoven, equipping students to thoughtfully compare and contrast Christianity with other belief systems.

Government/Econ

This course invites students to engage thoughtfully and faithfully with the foundations of American government and economic systems through the lens of biblical truth. Students will explore key principles of constitutional government, the role of citizens in a republic, and the moral and philosophical ideas that have shaped the United States. With a distinctly Christian worldview, this hybrid course blends rigorous academic study with real‑world application.
