About
Threads of Ames is dedicated to blending academic excellence with spiritual development, fostering a supportive community where students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade thrive. Our mission is to offer a flexible, affordable hybrid learning model that empowers families to cultivate faith, knowledge, and character in every child.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to glorify God by encouraging students to pursue academic excellence through engaging, Christ-centered programs; to provide extracurricular opportunities that extend learning beyond Threads; to equip and empower parents as the primary, God-given leaders of their children’s education; to offer safe, meaningful, and faith-filled social opportunities for both students and parents; to foster strong relationships among like-minded families committed to home education; and to advance and support the broader home education community in a way that reflects Biblical values.Â
Our classrooms emphasize a unique blend of hands-on instruction and a classical approach to learning, one that shapes, encourages, and challenges students to try their best and think critically about the world around them!

Maggie Hermanson
Board Director, Social Chair, and Instructor
I'm honored to be teaching choir and serving on the board. Next year will be 5 years of enjoying Threads for our family. I have 4 boys ages 15, 12, 9 and 6. My husband, Rhys, and I have been married for 17 years. We are high school sweethearts, and enjoy working on our acreage and spending time with family. Our favorite thing to do is take long walks. Looking forward to Threads starting up again in August and for time with awesome people!Â
